Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

sungei buloh entrance In 1820, Singapore mangrove forest covered 13% of Singapore land area. Today, only a mere less than 5% remained. For the past decades, the mangrove forest has provided the villagers with shelter, food, fuel and medicine.

A guided trip into the reserve will give you an insight of how the mangrove forest has supported the villagers and you will be fascinated by the ecosystem and plant diversity in the reserve. It is more than a "birding" place as written by many travel guides.

How to get there
  • Hop onto TIBS Bus 925 from the bus-stop opposite Marsiling MRT station.
  • This bus stops at the entrance of the reserve on Sundays and Public Holidays.
  • On weekdays and Saturdays, alight at the Kranji Reservoir Carpark. Cross the road and take a leisurely walk through the Kranji Nature Trail (KNT) leading to the entrance of the reserve.
Opening Hours
7.00am to 7.00pm daily Monday to Sundays & Public Holidays.
Entrance Fees
Free entry except on Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and school holidays.
  • $1.00 per adult
  • $0.50 per child/student/senior citizen

The Kranji Nature Trail(KNT) leads you through the grassland, secondary forest, sandy beach, mangroves and to the entrance of the reserve.

The reserve functions as an important site in the East Asian Migratory Flyway for waders, serving as a stopover point. It is here that they "fuel up" for their long flight to Australia and New Zealand. The best period to view the waders is from September to March.
